Who's Behind CodeCompass

Built by the people who review the plans.

CodeCompass was founded by a licensed fire protection engineer, a municipal fire plan reviewer, and the operator who built the platform itself — three perspectives on the same problem: getting a project through code review without the guesswork.

Brant Bullard

Business Operations & Product Lead

Brant designed and built CodeCompass's server-side calculation engines and its scoped AI chat agent — one of several production applications he's shipped using AI-assisted development. Outside of CodeCompass, he's spent over a decade running operations for a diagnostics and mobile phlebotomy provider serving long-term care facilities across Oklahoma — financial modeling, CRM and compliance systems, and vendor and banking relationships in a heavily regulated industry.

Bryant VanFossen

PE, CBO, CFM

Bryant is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer, Certified Building Official, and Certified Fire Marshal, and co-founder of Cornerstone Consulting and Fire Protection Engineering. He works directly with municipalities, architects, and engineering teams on fire protection and life safety plan review, and teaches courses on life safety, fire protection, and accessibility code requirements to other professionals in the field. His focus is making dense code requirements clear and actionable, so projects move forward without compromising safety.

Aaron Easter
✓ Co-Founder

Aaron Easter

Fire Planning Officer, City of Norman

Aaron is a Fire Planning Officer with the City of Norman Fire Department and co-founder of Cornerstone Consulting and Fire Protection Engineering. In the fire service since 2012, he moved from working the line to leading commercial plan review and inspections in Norman's Fire Prevention Division — the vantage point of the official who has to sign off before a building is safe to occupy. He co-founded Cornerstone to bring that plan-review expertise directly to architects, engineers, and developers, and is currently completing his ICC Certified Fire Marshal credential.

Why we built this

Most code compliance software is built by people who've never sat across the table from a plan reviewer. CodeCompass is built by two of them — plus the person who turned that expertise into software instead of a stack of annotated PDFs.

Every calculation engine in CodeCompass is checked against how an actual AHJ reads the code, not just how the code reads on paper.
